Cambridge Core Planning Advisory Committee (CCPAC)
A Public Voice in Planning
The Cambridge Core Planning Advisory Committee is a community-based group focused on planning issues that shape the long-term vitality of Cambridge’s core areas.
We support informed, balanced discussion by providing context, research, and perspective on planning policies and proposals that influence how our downtowns evolve over time.
Our aim is to:
Encourage evidence-based planning discussion
Highlight trade-offs and unintended consequences
Draw on professional planning and urban design practice
Support constructive community dialogue
Urban planning involves many interconnected decisions.
Our work will address a range of planning topics over time, including:
Core area planning and intensification
Zoning and built form
Heritage conservation tools
Transportation and land use
Policy intent and on-the-ground outcomes
Local and regional planning roles
Heritage Conservation Districts (HCDs) represent the committee’s first major area of public discussion.
Heritage conservation is one of several planning tools used to manage change in historic areas. Like other tools, HCDs involve benefits and trade-offs that vary by context.
We welcome informed interest and constructive input from residents, property owners, and others interested in planning issues affecting Cambridge’s core areas.
